The agent of Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Marco Verratti has rejected claims that Roma turned down the chance to sign the player before his switch to France.

Former Roma man, Bojan Krkic, recently revealed that the Giallorossi were following the playmaker while he was still at Serie B outfit Pescara, but in the end deemed him inferior to his current crop of players at Roma, a claim which Verratti’s agent has fiercely denied.

“[The stories] They are all nonsense,” Donato Di Campli told Vocegiallorossa.it in no uncertain terms.

Following the end of the 2011-12 season, the diminutive midfielder opted to move to French giants Paris Saint-Germain, having been named the player of the season in Serie B.

The 22-year-old continues to be linked with a return to Italy, but has in the past made moves to distance himself from these claims.
