AC Milan goalkeeper Christian Abbiati has cast doubt on his future with the Rossoneri, admitting that he could very well retire at the end of the season should the club fail to renew his contract.

The veteran goalkeeper started for the Rossoneri in their 3-0 victory over Torino on Sunday night, an appearance that could be his last at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza depending on how his contract situation plays out this summer.

“In 15 years with Milan I have always been at Milan’s disposal. I feel good and am always available. This year I have never missed a match or a training session,” Abbiati told Milan Channel.

“If they don’t renew my contract, I will retire.”

Abbiati also touched on the Rossoneri’s performance in their convincing victory, while revealing why Giampaolo Pazzini was uncharacteristically given the captain’s armband for the night.

“Giving the captain’s armband to Pazzini was a gesture and a wish for him to reach 100 goals tonight.

“It went well and I am happy for him. It is a small satisfaction of this evening and we are ending the season well. We won and also had a great team performance.”
