AC Milan have become the first club in Italy to install a cryogenic chamber for the treatment of injuries.

Whole-body cryotherapy chambers are reputed to help speed up the recovery period of injuries for players, an advanced form of treatment which the Rossoneri are hoping will give them an advantage over their Serie A competitors.

In synchronisation with the announcement, Milan have partnered with the company who produce the equipment, with the specialists having installed the facility and trained the Rossoneri’s existing staff in how to use it, the official club website report.

Milan are convinced that the therapy will ease the treatment of tears, muscle fatigue, acute tendinitis, and ligament and cartilage injuries in particular.

It is not the first time that cryotherapy has been used in football, with the France national team having experimented with it during Euro 2012, while Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo reportedly has a chamber installed at his home.
