AC Milan midfielder and captain Riccardo Montolivo will not play any further part for the Rossoneri this season after surgery to remove pins from his legs.

The 30-year-old has only made ten appearances this season, returning to the side in late November in the 2-0 victory over Udinese, after suffering a broken leg the previous summer but has struggled with a number of muscular problems since which has restricted his time on the field.

According to Milan Channel, the midfielder will now miss the remainder of the season after undergoing surgery which removed pins in his tibia from the broken leg he suffered while on duty for the Italian national side before last summer’s World Cup in Brazil.

The Rossoneri captain will now spend time recovering and hopes to be fully prepared for the start of the 2015/16 season.
