Essien - AC MilanOut-of-contract AC Milan player Michael Essien has set his sights on playing for a Major league Soccer side next season.

The Ghanian reportedly turned down a recent offer from Olympiacos in order to allow himself the opportunity to play in America.

According to Tuttosport, the €1.4 million salary on the table from the Greek side was not enough to convince the midfielder who is reportedly waiting for the New York Red Bulls to make contact.

The MLS has attracted many former Rossoneri players in recent years including Kaka, Alessandro Nesta and David Beckham.

The New York Red Bulls were recently the team of French Legend Thierry Henry just prior to his retirement.

Essien joined Milan in early 2014 on a free transfer from English side Chelsea on an 18-month contract.

The 32-year-old has made 22 appearances during his time at the club.
