Chelsea midfield man Marco van Ginkel could be set for another year on loan at AC Milan having recently become a Serie A regular.

The 22-year-old Dutchman endured ankle problems which restricted him to 16 league appearances so far this term, but has featured heavily in Filippo Inzaghi’s side since the middle of March.

According to the Daily Mirror, the Rossoneri are ready to initiate negotiations in order to re-sign van Ginkel on another loan deal for next season.

“Unfortunately he [van Ginkel] is not our player. But he has grown a lot,” said Inzaghi when quizzed on the player’s future by reporters following Sunday’s 3-0 win over Torino.

“He has played seven or eight games in a row and we are starting to see a great player.

“He does really well in training.

“Chelsea have great midfielders and he is in need of playing time.”

Chelsea paid around €11 million for the promising midfielder when signing him from Vitesse Arnhem in 2013, but has yet to make an impression at Stamford Bridge.
