Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri has firmly stated that he believes that Tuesday night’s Champions League semi-final against Real Madrid will be an open game.

The Bianconeri host the first leg of the semi-final tie against the reigning champions, having not reached this stage of the Champions League since the 2002-2003 season when they reached the final before losing to AC Milan on penalties.

“It will be a difficult semi-final,” Allegri said.

“Also it will be an open contest, fought right until the very end. Madrid are the defending champions so we have to be aware of them as they are a great side. I do not think that both the legs will end 0-0.”

Along with his praise for Los Blancos, Allegri acknowledged his respect for Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti.

“Ancelotti is very good as well as smart,” he started.

“I respect him as a person. He has won all the major titles and has showed his qualities as a coach.”

The Juventus coach also had positive things to say about his players, especially Arturo Vidal and summer signing Alvaro Morata.

“Vidal is fine and has scored some goals in recent games,” he said. “He has regained his self-confidence as well.

“Morata also has grown a lot in the last four or five months and I think he is ready to play the game at this level.”

With his side having every possibility to win the treble this season, the 47-year-old has appreciated the warmth he receives at the newly crowned Italian champions.

“Juventus made me feel important,” Allegri stated. “This is a group of players who play for the jersey they wear.”

Juventus will miss the services of midfielder Paul Pogba on Tuesday, as they look to gain a first leg advantage against Los Merengues.
