Mario MandzukicAC Milan are apparently to hold talks with Atletico Madrid over the transfer of Croatian striker Mario Mandzukic.

The Rossoneri have a big summer ahead if they are to improve their squad enough for a serious push towards European football in the 2015/16 season and the target man will be the subject of talks as Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani flies to the Spanish capital.

The Rojiblancos are willing to sell the 29-year-old despite a return of 17 goals in his first season at the Vicente Calderon Stadium, according to Tuttosport, with Milan very interested in taking the striker to Italy.

Also discussed will be Alessio Cerci as the agreement for the loan of the Italian to the Diavolo runs until June 2016, but it is believed that an underwhelming six months at the San Siro has led to Milan considering a termination of his loan.

That would mean a quick return to Atletico for the 27-year-old, who scored just one goal after 18 Serie A outings, most of which were from the bench.
