Liverpool striker Mario Balotelli looks set to stay at the club next season, despite rumours suggesting he will depart in the upcoming transfer window.

The Italian has failed to impress since leaving Serie A for the second time to return the Premier League, and has been heavily linked with a move away from the Merseyside club.

According to Gazzetta TV, the former AC Milan and Inter forward will stay at Anfield until next season at least.

Rumours of his seemingly imminent departure were fuelled when agent Mino Raiola travelled to England to meet with the player last week.

It is thought that the growing uncertainties regarding the future of Reds’ boss Brendan Rodgers are part of the reason why Balotelli may remain at the club for another year.

During his time at the Anfield side, Balotelli has regularly stated his happiness and desire to do well for the club on social media, with the latest of these posts coming on Friday evening as the Italian took to Instagram to post a photo with departing captain Steven Gerrard.

@stevengerrard Liverpool ???? We do have fun????
