Napoli coach Rafael Benitez is 99 percent certain to join Real Madrid within the next week, according to Ernesto Bronzetti.
Bronzetti, who is the agent of Carlo Ancelotti, made the statement following the sacking of his client from the Real Madrid coaching position.
Speaking to Rai Sport the Italian agent revealed that the Spaniard Benitez would take over the Spanish side for next season.
“Rafa Benitez is 99% certain to take charge of Real Madrid,” he said.
The agent also revealed how some of the Madrid team’s players reacted to the news of Ancelotti’s departure.
“He [Ancelotti] wants to take a year off,” the agent continued. “The team was concerned at the news, and some of the players cried when he announced his departure.”
Real Madrid president Florentino Perez refused to reveal Ancelotti’s successor but conceded his preference was for a Spanish coach, with the club is set to reveal his identity as early as next week.
