Rafael Benitez NapoliRafael Benitez is looking for written assurances before committing to a new contract at Napoli.

Napoli currently lie fourth in Serie A, following Sunday night’s 3-0 home victory over Milan, and despite their being some disappointment in some quarters over Napoli’s failure to challenge for the Scudetto this season they do find themselves in the semi-finals of the Europa league, a competition that Benitez has won twice as a coach with Valencia and Chelsea, where they face the Ukrainian side Dnipro over two legs.

The 55-year-old joined the Neapolitans two years ago and, according to La Gazzetta Dello Sport, wants promises from club president Aurelio De Laurentiis that the investment and the changes to how the first team and youth team train will be guaranteed to help bring them in line with other top European clubs.

Benitez and De Laurentiis haven’t always seen eye to eye on various issues and the former Liverpool manager has been linked with a move back to his old club, where he is still held in high regard among the fans and also Manchester City.
