AC Milan president Silvio Berlusconi reiterated that negotiations with Bee Taechaubol and the Chinese government, over the sale of the club, are still ongoing.

The two men have been locking horns over the amount of equity Berlusconi would be willing to give up, with the Rossoneri president keen to keep majority stake if possible.

Berlusconi has expressed his openness at welcoming foreign capital into the club however, and confirmed that the main negotiation hurdle has been securing funds from a third party (China) other than Mr Bee himself.

“I think the situation in football is now clear that foreign capital is necessary, as a single family cannot compete [against Europe’s biggest clubs],” Berlusconi said to TelePadova.

“When speaking, we discussed a maximum of 50 or 49 percent with Mr Bee.

“If the deal goes through, then AC Milan will be competitive in Italy, Europe and the world. Otherwise, I will have to continue making sacrifices on my own.”

Mr Bee intends to invest €500 million for a 51 percent share of the club, according to Channel 3 Thai, but obtain a loan from banks not in Thailand.

“I will invest €250 million through bank loans, but not from Thailand as they do not want to take out money from the country,” Mr Bee said.

“It is better for the funds to come from abroad.”
