AC Milan president Silvio Berlusconi has declared that Carlo Ancelotti will be the new coach of the Rossoneri.

The club’s vice-president Adriano Galliani has been in Madrid over the last week as he tried to persuade the 55-year-old to rejoin his former club, and it has apparently done the trick.

“I have hope that there’s a big chance Ancelotti will become the next Milan coach,” Berlusconi told Mediaset Premium.

“While going on my election campaign, all the Milan fans have told me to bring Ancelotti back. I’ve listened, and found a solution.

“He’s a winner, he’s won everywhere he’s coached. Now he’ll have a small operation and will make his decision, which will be done with his family.

“I hope it’s a positive decision for Milan, because he’s very much wanted at Milan.

“I don’t want to consider any alternatives to Ancelotti.

“We’ll talk about these things if Ancelotti doesn’t come. But since he will come, there is no need to even have these conversations.”

Galliani is said to have promised Ancelotti a huge transfer budget in order to persuade the coach, who won two Champions League titles while in charge of Milan, to return and Berlusconi also hinted that Zlatan Ibrahimovic could also be on his way back to the San Siro.

“I’m obsessed with his return,” Berlusconi said. “Although it will be a very difficult thing to make happen. It will take patience.

“But he’s magnificent on the pitch.”

Real Madrid recently sacked Ancelotti after he failed to win any trophies this season, finishing second to Barcelona in La Liga, and being knocked out of the Champions League by Juventus.

Berlusconi also addressed the ongoing rumours of a potential takeover or investment, stating: “Milan are not for sale.

“We are just looking for a partner to help us return, not to a great team, but to a really great team.”
