With his current deal set to expire next week, Chelsea loanee Marco van Ginkel has refused to rule out returning to AC Milan for next season despite continued uncertainty over the future coaching situation at the Rossoneri.

The Dutchman joined the Milanese giants in September and despite initially struggling in Italy, the midfielder has gone on to enjoy a strong second half to the season, establishing himself as an important player in Filippo Inzaghi’s team.

“The future?” pondered Van Ginkel while in attendance at the official opening of a new metro line in Milan. “I do not know yet, but I will return to Chelsea, then we’ll see.”

Inzaghi is understood to be keen on retaining the services of the former Vitesse Arnhem schemer, but the situation is complicated by the fact that the 41-year-old coach is highly unlikely to remain in charge beyond next month with Adriano Galliani currently in Madrid to convince Carlo Ancelotti to return to Milanello.
