AC Milan president Silvio Berlusconi has met with representatives of the the Chinese consortium who currently rival Bee Taechaubol in the race to purchase a significant stake in the Rossoneri.

Mr Bee spent all of last week in Milan attending protracted negotiations with Berlusconi and his advisers with the Thai businessman leaving Italy on Monday confident that he could complete the deal by the end of the month.

However, it has been reported that Berlusconi also held a meeting over the weekend with a representative of the Chinese government who are supporting the interest of beverage tycoon Zong Quinghou, with more detailed discussions planned for Friday.

It is believed that the Chinese proposal would involve an initial purchase of 35 percent of the club with the inclusion of an immediate capital injection to fund new transfers. The Chinese shareholding would then gradually rise to 61 percent over the next three to five years.

Corriere della Sera reported on Tuesday that Berlusconi favours the Chinese bidders because he believes that they possess far more financial muscle than the Thai consortium, while he is also said to be unhappy with Taechaubol’s behaviour.
