Roma’s Daniele De Rossi has admitted that the Giallorossi had to dig deep to overcome Lazio on Monday afternoon and that the result will hurt the Aquile.
Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa scored five minutes from time to secure second position for the Giallorossi and leave Lazio scrapping for third, thus ensuring automatic qualification for the Champions League season and De Rossi knows just how hard a task this has been for the club.
“Great effort and a great showing,” De Rossi told Sky Sport Italia after the game.
“This group showed we wanted it, we had to dig deep but we found something.
“Now, we have to start [next season] well with clear ideas.
“It [the result] hurts Lazio, a draw would not have been a bad result for us. Lazio played with a little bit of fear.”
Speaking elsewhere he revealed that the result was the only thing that mattered.
“The result in these games is the most important thing, it was what we had hoped for, we are delighted and we can enjoy this moment.”
