Cesena coach Domenico Di Carlo felt aggrieved after seeing his side narrowly defeated 1-0 by Cagliari in the bottom of the table clash between the two already relegated clubs in Serie A on Saturday afternoon.

In a game with few chances and highlights, a goalless draw appeared certain as the 90 minutes drew to a close. That was until Marco Sau popped up to net the winner for the Rossoblu in the 92nd minute to compound Cesena’s miserable end to the season.

Speaking to Rai after the match at the Stadio Dino Manuzzi, Di Carlo expressed his frustration at the result.

“Of course we are bitter and angry, things just didn’t go our way,” he said. “Cagliari took advantage of a chance in the 90th minute.

“Again today mistakes cost us dear, we wanted this victory but we couldn’t make it happen.”

Despite another poor result today and impending relegation to Serie B, Di Carlo would not be drawn on speculation around his job.

“Today is not the day to talk about my future, especially after such an undeserved defeat.”
