Parma coach Roberto Donadoni called for Sunday’s Serie A clash against Hellas Verona to be a “thank you” present to the fans.

Parma will host Verona on Sunday afternoon, concluding what has been a tough season for the Ducali that will see them relegated and has placed the club up for auction following financial meltdown.

Donadoni preferred to focus on the matter of the pitch, as per his habit in recent weeks, and prompted his team to end the season on a high as recompense to the Parma fans’ support.

“We want to finish strong and well in our stadium,” Donadoni said in his pre-match press conference.

“We paid a heavy toll [for the club’s troubles] and we still don’t know where it will lead us.

“I cannot believe that this club could disappear. I am sure interest in [buying] Parma remains high.

“But tomorrow [against Verona] we just have to say ‘thank you’ to the fans.”
