Parma coach Roberto Donadoni has taken responsibility for his side’s 4-0 defeat to Cagliari at Stadio Sant’Elia on Monday.

The Crociati were picked apart by a ruthless Sardinian outfit and Donadoni felt that his team lacked the energy and determination of their opponents, as well as the clinical finishing that separated the two teams.

Speaking to Sky Sport Italia, Donadoni stated, “We knew we were facing a spirited team and we didn’t match them, which I take responsibility for.

“We started badly and were too slow, we couldn’t get back into the game and were fatigued.”

Donadoni continued: “I’m sorry because in the last two games we have slowed down mentally. It is a shame because before that we always played at a great pace.

“I am not blaming anyone but we have to do better. We need greater effort, for the whole 90 minutes.”
