Palermo starlet Paulo Dybala spoke ahead of his imminent move to Juventus, and set himself the ambitious task of becoming a starter for the Serie A champions.

Palermo coach Giuseppe Iachini confirmed Dybala’s departure after their 1-0 win over Cagliari last weekend.

Dybala spoke in a long interview, discussing his Juventus aspirations for next year.

“I made this choice because I know I can play at Juventus,” Dybala said to Mediaset Premium.

“Juventus are the team that I wanted to join the most. They made great efforts to sign me and it helped convince me in making my choice.

“When I came here [to Palermo] everyone said [Palermo president] Maurizio Zamparini was crazy to pay €12 million for me; now I am worth a lot of money to him. Now it’s the same with people saying Juventus paid too much for me.

“Over time I showed my quality for Palermo and I will try to do the same to repay Juventus. I want to win the Scudetto with Juve.

“[About the competition with Carlos Tevez and his departure] For me, it is better if he stays at the club; I came to Juventus to be a starter.

“I like playing closer to goal but it is not a problem for me to play as a second striker; I have already played in that role when I was in Argentina.”
