Gianluca Festa has spoken with pride regarding his achievements as Cagliari coach, and says he would be humbled to stay on for another season.

The former Inter defender has fulfilled a number of behind the scenes roles for the Rossoblu, and was appointed first-team coach in April.

However, he admitted during his pre-match press conference ahead of tomorrow’s game with Udinese that his future is uncertain.

“I would be thrilled to stay on,” he revealed, “but it is not for me to decide.

“I will always be grateful to the president for the opportunity I was given.

“I was curious to find out how I would handle certain situations, and I think that went quite well – despite the disappointment of relegation.”

Festa also explained that he wanted to go out with a win, in what is the final fixture of the Serie A season.

“We have many players absent tomorrow,” he noted, “but want to make amends for the loss against Palermo.”
