Cagliari coach Gianluca Festa has admitted he is interested in continuing at the helm next season as the club prepare for their penultimate fixture of the season against Cesena at the Stadio Dino Manuzzi on Sunday afternoon.

The Rossoblu were relegated to Serie B for the first time in 11 years following last weekend’s 1-0 defeat to Palermo.

“I will try to field the best team possible for the match. These games are important for everyone, including me,” the former Cagliari player told reporters.

“I try to do my best, but my future is linked to the results of the team, just like everyone else. I would certainly like to continue to coach Cagliari next season, but I’m already happy for the opportunity that I have been given by the club.

“In this type of career you have to take advantage of every opportunity that comes along.

“The affection of the people is something that I have enjoyed, myself and my staff have put in the maximum effort, and the fans have understood. The match against Palermo hurt, and after the game I spoke as a fan.”
