Premier League side Sunderland are set to make a move to bring out of favour Fiorentina defender Micah Richards back to England.

The former Manchester City player has only been in Serie A since the beginning of the season, but has seen little playing time during his spell at the Viola and is believed to be seeking a move back home.

According to The Mirror, the Wearside club are preparing a bid to bring Richards back to England, despite rumoured interest from former coach Roberto Mancini at Inter.

The 26-year-old is currently on loan at the Italian club, and his contract is set to expire this coming June, which has peaked the interest of the Premier League strugglers.

The England international has started just six Serie A matches during his time in Italy, whereas he has started five times in the Europa League for Vincenzo Montella’s side.
