Adriano Galliani AC MilanAC Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani has revealed that Silvio Berlusconi is ready to fund an extensive summer transfer campaign as he tried to assure supporters that the Rossoneri would soon return to the top of Italian football.

The former Italian prime minister has neglected Milan in recent years with the Rossoneri set to miss out on European football for the second consecutive season amid reports that the club was set to be sold to investors from the Far East.

“President Berlusconi has a strong desire and we are planning for next season’s recruitment because, after having suffered so much, we have to get back to our level,” Galliani insisted to journalists while attending a Gazzetta dello Sport exhibition in Milan.

“It will be a big campaign in terms of purchases, and the president will make a Milan with more Italian players.”

Galliani then turned his attention to coach Filippo Inzaghi who looks certain to be relived of his duties following a disappointing debut season working with the senior squad.

“Inzaghi? We have always said that Pippo would stay until the end of the season. There is still time until June 1 when we will begin to take decisions and we will see what to do.”

The 70-year-old was then quizzed about possible replacements for the Milan bench.

“[Unai] Emery? He’s the Sevilla coach. [Antonio] Conte on a shared basis? I cannot answer. How do I feel about [Carlo] Ancelotti? I have always had affection for former coaches and we are always in contact with the former Milan tacticians: [Arrigo] Sacchi, [Fabio] Capello, [Massimiliano] Allegri…

“[Roberto] Donadoni? I’ve not spoken to him. [Vincenzo] Montella? I’d prefer a former AC Milan man to be coach.”
