Roma coach Rudi Garcia has labelled rivals Juventus as ‘unreachable’, claiming that their financial might makes them hard to compete against.

The Giallorossi trail the Serie A champions by 16 points as they head into their final match against Palermo on Saturday, a margin which the Frenchman laments.

“Juve are too good for the league and is showing that thanks to their economic power and their new stadium. The Bianconeri are unreachable,” he claimed during his pre-match press conference.

“I think the gap will be even more important, especially because we will have to think of the financial fair play while Juventus will spend as much. That said I’m here to win titles and we’ll try.

Nevertheless, the 51-year-old tactician is content with his side’s qualification into the Champions League for next season and hopes to end the campaign with a comprehensive victory in front of their own supporters.

“We have achieved the main goal of the season, that is to qualify for the Champions League. It is important not to have to go through qualifying, and next year we will try to improve. I hope that our draw will aid us.

“I would like to finish the season in the best way possible by winning against Palermo in front of our fans.

When asked to reflect on the positives and negatives of the season, Garcia replied: “The most beautiful was the victory in the derby (against Lazio) that gave us the direct qualification for the Champions League. I prefer to think of positives things, so I do not know what was the worst part of the season is.”

Meanwhile, Garcia believes that his side will only get better, and believes that coming up with realistic objectives will help them in the bid to end Juve’s domestic monopoly.

“Last year things went better, we broke our club’s record of points recorded in Serie A, but our goal was to get into the Champions League,” he continued.

“There is a difference between goals and ambitions. We will need more time to try to make our ambitions real objectives. ”
