Roma coach Rudi Garcia has urged the Giallorossi hierarchy to offer Seydou Keita a new contract in order to extend the Malian midfielder’s stay in the Italian peninsula beyond the summer.

The veteran joined the capital outfit on a free transfer last summer in order to provide squad depth with Roma competing on several fronts having qualified for the Champions League, but the 35-year-old has enjoyed an impressive debut season in Serie A and become an important player at the Stadio Olimpico.

Having again secured Champions League football the Corriere della Sera reports that Garcia is keen to retain the services of Keita for another year, and that the player’s representatives are set to met with Roma officials on Monday in an effort to reach a new agreement.

Keita is a highly experienced player having previously represented Sevilla, Valencia and Barcelona, winning the Champions League twice with the former.
