Genoa coach Gian Piero Gasperini was ecstatic after his sides 3-2 win over Inter at the Stadio Ferraris on Saturday evening.

Genoa grabbed a last-gasp winner thanks to an 89th minute header from Juraj Kucka. The win moved the Grifone into fifth in Serie A, and with Fiorentina a point behind and a game in hand.

Gasperini lauded his team’s efforts on the night and throughout the season, claiming that Genoa are more than deserving of the Europa League as they stand in limbo over their appeal for a UEFA license.

“Tonight gave us great satisfaction and because we have done something really important this season,” Gasperini said to Mediaset Premium.

“It was not easy to twice come from behind against Inter, but our never-say-die attitude paid off.

“Tonight has been a magical evening and we have deserved our league position. We had a great first half of the season and when the pressure was on in these last weeks we responded magnificently. This team has grown so much.

“No one deserves Europa League more than us.”
