Genoa are set to appeal through the Body of Arbitration of Licensing after being denied a UEFA licence for next season, after appeal.

Following the failure of the club to list an alternative stadium, due to problems with the Stadio Luigi Ferraris, they have been denied their licence – with Sampdoria’s granted after they filed the Mapei Stadium in Reggio Emilia, used by Sassuolo, as theirs.

Mattia Grassani, club lawyer, admitted to TMW that the club are running out of time: “The club will appeal to the Body of Arbitration to try and resolve the disputes but we do not have a lot of time to do so.

“Our defence is based upon looking at the substance rather than the documentation, proving that there were no problems with the issues on April 30 even if the complete documentation was not sent by that time.

“The club and the president Preziosi have made huge efforts to cover debts, provide any resources that were needed and getting rid of any problems found by the committee overseeing the UEFA licence. We hope that there will be a wider evaluation of the club.”
