Alberto Gilardino spoke after Fiorentina’s 3-1 win over Cesena on Sunday afternoon in Serie A, expressing his wishes to remain in Florence.

The Fiorentina striker scored La Viola’s third goal, after Josip Ilicic’s brace had put the hosts ahead.

Gilardino, who arrived from Chinese side Guangzhou Evergrande during the January transfer window, let it know that he was enjoying his football in Florence and wishes to remain with Fiorentina come the end of his loan spell.

“For me, it is a great joy to have scored today,” Gilardino said to Sky Sport Italia.

“We really wanted to win; I played with determination and I played for Fiorentina.

“I am here for another four months; I have enjoyed my time here and I feel very comfortable. The captain [Manuel Pasqual] is a great source of pride for me.”

Gilardino’s loan at Fiorentina marks his second stint at the club, after having played four years with La Viola between 2008 and 2012.
