Hellas Verona coach Andrea Mandorlini believes the 2-2 draw with fellow rivals Chievo was a justified result.

The Scaligeri trailed the match after 10 minutes, but demonstrated excellent resilience to equalise and then go ahead, only for their exploits to be undone when a deserved penalty was awarded to the hosts.

Speaking to Sky Sport Italia after the match, Mandorlini maintains that a stalemate was a fair reflection on proceedings.

“Today was a hard fought game. In the first half we [Hellas Verona] did well, but in the second they [Chievo] did their best, so it was the right result is right,” Mandorlini said.

The Italian boss was then quizzed over the significant number of yellow cards that were brandished in the game by experienced referee Nicola Rizzoli.

“There were too many yellow cards which was perhaps excessive,” Mandorlini continued.

“He [Rizzoli] is the best referee [in the league] but he had already warned five players in 20 minutes. We must be very careful, but all in all it was a good game, with good goals and a few mistakes.”
