Inter are once more looking at the possibility of bringing Liverpool star Lucas Leiva to Serie A after a failed attempt to do so in January.

Reds boss Brendan Rodgers reportedly turned down the Nerazzurri’s overtures during the winter transfer window, but Roberto Mancini’s interest in the defensive midfielder hasn’t waned any.

According to English newspaper the Daily Mirror, the 28-year-old could now be surplus to requirements at Anfield due to his bit-part role under Rodgers this season. Additionally, Liverpool’s supposed pursuit of versatile Manchester City and England man James Milner could push Lucas further down the pecking order should any such deal come to fruition.

Brazilian international Leiva has only managed 19 Premier League appearances this term, with 15 of those coming from the start.

The former Gremio star is therefore almost certain to move on this summer, and Inter could well go back in for the player as part of a mooted reconstruction of their current squad.
