Inter view Lazio goalkeeper Federico Marchetti as the ideal replacement to Samir Handanovic should the goalkeeper leave this summer.

The future of Handanovic has grown unclear as he reportedly remains disappointed by the club’s standing and inability to qualify for Europe and will seek an exit from the Nerazzurri in the summer, with the likes of Manchester United and even Roma ready to snap up the Slovenian.

With no signs being made by the 30-year-old to signal an intention to stay, Inter are beginning to the line up any possible replacements and according to Sky Sport Italia, they have found a new target in Marchetti.

The Italian is reported to be held in high regard by coach Roberto Mancini, who will attempt to lure the goalkeeper away from the Biancocelesti, despite the promise of European football next season from his current side.

Having impressed since joining Lazio in the summer of 2011, Marchetti has gone on to be a key asset for his club having played 139 matches to date with 54 clean sheets, proving himself to be number one for the Aquile, and now a key target for the Italian coach.

Marchetti however has one year remaining on his current contract and therefore could move at a lower price, though Inter president Erick Thohir is said to be willing to spend a reasonable amount to bring in a new figure in goal.
