Inter are among a number of clubs set to battle it out for Monaco defender Aymen Abdennour over the summer with Roberto Mancini determined to re-shape his defence after a disastrous 2014/2015 campaign.

With the futures of centre-backs Nemanja Vidic and captain Andrea Ranocchia still uncertain, the Nerazzurri are in the market for more defensive cover having already completed the signing of Jeison Murillo from Granada.

The player’s agent confirmed there has been interested from Inter along with a host of other sides interested in the centre-back.

“Given the season that Aymen has just had, of course there is interest in him from all over the world,” his agent told Footmercato.net.

“We have received calls from a number of sporting directors but for now there is nothing confirmed.

“Clubs like Inter, Valencia, Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur and Wolfsburg have all called and we have received concrete offers from these clubs who are very interested in Aymen.”

The Nerazzurri have been monitoring the progress of the 25-year-old for some time and were impressed with his performances against Juventus in the Champions League quarter-finals back in April and look set to step up their pursuit in the coming weeks.

The Tunisian international recently signed a long term deal at Monaco and is contracted to the club until 2019.
