Juventus striker Alessandro Matri has described his winning goal in the Coppa Italia final against Lazio as the most important in his career so far.

The on-loan attacker came off the bench to score in extra time as the Old Lady clinched their 10th Coppa success and first domestic double since 1995.

“I want to thank the club, and my teammates who helped me, it was the most important goal of my career,” the 30-year-old told JTV.

“It’s the goal that won us our 10th Coppa Italia and one that will go down in history. It’s a feat I’m really proud of.

“The Coppa Italia success was just as important as winning Serie A, now we do not want miss our appointment on June 6 in the Champions League final.”

Matri also discussed his return to Juventus on the final day of the winter transfer window.

“Coming back to the Bianconeri was unexpected,” he continued. “I had a small problem with my calf and it took me a while to get back into the swing of things, but I had everything available to do well.”
