Lichtsteiner - JuventusJuventus defender Stephan Lichtsteiner was impressed with how strong his team performed during their 2-1 victory over Real Madrid in the first leg of the Champions League semi-final at the Juventus Stadium on Tuesday night.

The Bianconeri opened the scoring in the eighth minute through former Madrid striker Alvaro Morata before Cristiano Ronaldo equalised with a close range header to bring the sides level before half-time. Carlos Tevez netted the winner for the Old Lady with a second half penalty.

“I think we played a good game, especially in defence,” the Swiss defender said to Sky Sport Italia.

“I do not think Madrid are used to playing against a team organized like us, given the quality we have, it was a difficult match for them. They have created very little today, we can be satisfied with the performance and especially with the result.

“We know that big players are very important and can make all the difference when you’re not careful, it is a bit different from our other games.

“It’s impressive how strong we were today. We had great game and we hope to repeat this performance in Madrid next week.”
