Andrea PirloEnglish Premier League giants Liverpool are set to make an audacious attempt to bring Juventus maestro Andrea Pirlo to Anfield.

The Italian international has a contract with the Bianconeri that takes him into the 2016 season, however he may be tempted into making a switch this Summer if the right offer comes along.

According to Tuttosport, the player has previously announced a desire to try a new footballing experience away from Italy and are suggesting that Liverpool have already made an offer for the former AC Milan midfielder.

The report also states that both Chelsea and Boca Juniors have shown an interest in Pirlo, alongside some Major League Soccer outfits, but that the most concrete inquiry has only come from Brendan Rodgers’ side.

Pirlo has helped Juventus to their fourth straight title this season as well as making it into the Coppa Italia final and the Champions League semi final.

April Fools day is well gone. The guy will be 36 in a couple of weeks, he would want £200,000 per week and can only get slower. Given our officials he would be red carded every time he stepped on the pitch, plus the fact Italian players have never been successful for Liverpool, oh and what about the FSG age limit of 25.

@ Billious: what are you on about? Pirlo at 36 is more than good enough to play for LFC. And at Juventus he earns about £60k per week – are you really expecting him to ask for a 200% pay increase?

Also this nonsense about FSG age limit is just that: nonsense. They might prefer to buy younger players, but we’ve signed several players older than 25.
