Parma captain Alessandro Lucarelli has revealed his wishes to see someone buy the Gialloblu and pay off the team’s debt ahead of the final auction date for the struggling club.

The Crociati will be up for auction one more time on June 9, with the starting price now being set at around €4.5 million, but the real problem would be paying off the club’s debt, which was originally estimated at around €74 million, though the number has apparently fallen dramatically recently following several negotiations.

Lucarelli spoke to Sky Sport Italia 24 on Thursday about Parma’s current situation and admitted that he hopes to see someone save the club and help give them a fresh start.

“There will be a bit more time after the last auction, I hope that things can be worked out between now and that date,” said the 37-year-old, who has remained loyal to the Ducali despite all of their problems this season.

“I hope a new agreement can be made regarding the club’s debt in order to attract a buyer that can save this club.”
