Fiercely loyal Parma captain Alessandro Lucarelli has pledged his future to the club come what may this summer.

The 37-year-old has taken the club’s plight to heart having spent the last seven years of his career there and has been consistent in his affirmations of loyalty to the Ducali since their financial struggles came to light.

This Thursday marks the last day of auction for the club who will likely contest next season in Serie B if they can find a buyer but should they be unable to do so, they could be forced to start all over from scratch.

Speaking about the situation, Lucarelli insisted: “I have another year of my contract here and I will remain. My availability to the future of Parma is 100 per cent and that is in all capacities – either on or off the field.

“I am at home here and I want to work to put an end to these problems.”

He joined the club in 2008 for €1.2 million from Genoa and since then has gone on to make over 230 appearances at the Tardini.
