Mancini: Pointless to blame any one Inter player

Roberto Mancini spoke after Inter’s 3-2 away loss to Genoa, visibly frustrated at his side and the individual errors that led to the defeat.

Inter twice led at the Stadio Ferraris on Saturday evening; the Nerazzurri were undone by a combined error from Andrea Ranocchia and Samir Handanovic that allowed Maxime Lestienne’s equaliser, as well as a last-gasp set-piece goal from Juraj Kucka.

Although Mancini was aggravated by his side allowing their lead to twice slip away from them, he chose not to point fingers and instead called for his whole team to take responsibility.

“We need the right mentality on top of erasing the individual mistakes that have marred our performances,” Mancini said to Sky Sport Italia.

“It is pointless to point fingers, obviously no one is happy about our results. The team needs to be stronger [mentally].

“We have to build from here and construct a team with a winner’s mentality as well as improve in defence. Maybe with the arrival of more experienced players [in the summer], the others could benefit from it and improve/progress.”
