Inter coach Roberto Mancini has admitted that they are no longer in control of their destiny as they strive to obtain a Europa League place.

The Nerazzurri currently occupy eighth position in Serie A, four points behind their upcoming opponents Genoa and Mancini has stressed the importance of their penultimate game of the season.

“Unfortunately we are no longer the masters of our own destiny regarding the Europa League,” said Mancini in his pre-match press conference.

“We are still aiming to win the two games that remain and we are still hopeful.

“The match tomorrow is our last chance so obviously it is important. We will be sure to put in a great performance like we did during our previous away fixture[2-1 victory against Lazio].”

The 50-year-old tactician has also stressed the importance of the next transfer window and has stated that Inter must sign the right players if they are to improve.

“We need to sign the players that our side is currently missing,” Mancini continued.

“We must buy players of quality that can help improve our squad but we know that it will be difficult.

“I have spoken with the president and I am content because he too has the desire to create a great side.

“The next few months will be fundamental.”

Lastly Mancini has also analysed the character of his current squad and has stated that they should see the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza as a blessing rather than a weight upon their shoulders.

“To play at the San Siro is difficult as it is a very important stadium and the squad struggle a lot when they play there,” said Mancini.

“We need to improve upon this because playing at home should be an advantage.

“Against Juventus we should have been more clinical in the first half and it was absurd to lose.

“However we did not close the game and ultimately we have paid the price.”

Inter will play Genoa at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris on Saturday at 2045 CET.
