Chievo coach Rolando Maran praised his players for saving a draw against Atalanta during their final home game of the 2014-15 Serie A season.
Maran acknowledged that his side have struggled to continue mentally after knowing they were mathematically safe but he still praised them for their work throughout the season.
“The game started badly, but fortunately some of our more experienced players were able to give us a hand, players such as [Sergio] Pellissier who scored the equaliser” said Maran to Rai Sport after the draw with Atalanta.
“We had hoped to finish the season strongly.
“We have been the architects of our own success and our position in the standings.
“I have to give my compliments to the players, who played well, above all in the second half.
“In recent days we have been winning as much as in other stages of the season.
“When we achieved survival we suffered a bit from a mental standpoint although we’ve always kept trying and you can see that today as we recovered in a match where we started badly.”
