Sinisa Mihajlovic SampdoriaSampdoria coach Sinisa Mihajlovic is depending on the character and personality of his Blucerchiati squad as they enter the season’s run-in.

La Samp sit seventh in the league, which is effectively enough for qualification to the Europa League after Genoa’s omission from the UEFA License list, as they take on Empoli and Parma in their final Serie A fixtures of 2014/15.

“As a player at Lazio I won and lost Scudetti in a single match, these experiences stay with you and to achieve your goals depends on the character and personality of the team,” the 46-year-old told Il Secolo XIX.

“Two games remain and all we have done since August was to be where we are today; those who know football understand the work, sacrifice and application to get to this point.”

The ex-Serbian coach has refused to talk about his contract situation thus far, with Sunday’s trip to Tuscany at the forefront of Mihajlovic’s mind: “[Maurizio] Sarri is the only one who has brought something new to Italian football in this league.

“I have never spoken about the duration of contracts,” Mihajlovic declared, “I give myself objectives but I may leave if I do not reach them, although money is the least of my worries.”
