Fiorentina coach Vincenzo Montella believes his side deserved victory in the 3-1 victory at home to Cesena which ended a four game losing streak in Serie A and singled out Josip Ilicic for praise after a brace.
The Viola went 3-0 up thanks to two Ilicic goals and a close range effort from Alberto Gilardino before Alejandro Rodriguez pulled one back for the visitors.
“This victory is deserved and brings us back into a Europa League position,” the former Catania coach told journalists after the conclusion of the match.
“Ilicic is and important players with many valuable characteristics and technique.
“He is also very clever and links well with his teammates and I expect to see continuity from this performance.
“Against Sevilla we will need to be careful as they are a team in great form.
“We can smile at other results today when teams around us do not win, although we only focus on ourselves ahead of any match.”
