Parma have mutually terminated the contract of striker Ishak Belfodil, the financially-stricken club confirmed on their website.

The 23-year-old Algerian international is one of the highest earners at the Ducali, and has agreed to waive the salary the club owes to him.

“Ishak Belfodil and Parma FC today terminated by mutual consent the contract which would have kept him at the club until June 2018,” read a statement on the club’s official website.

“With the termination, the player waives all claims against Parma FC, with regard to both the pre-bankruptcy period, and in terms of wages earned but not paid in the interim year.”

Belfodil returned to Parma this season, after unsuccessful stints at Inter and Livorno, and has been linked with a move to Major League Soccer outfit Toronto FC.
