Genoa striker Leonardo Pavoletti knows it has taken some time for him to make his mark in Serie A, but admitted his standout performance against Inter on Saturday night was like something out of a dream.

The 26-year-old has been in torrid form in recent weeks after being inserted into the starting lineup and that continued on Saturday as his goal helped the Grifone to a 3-2 victory while keeping their hopes of Europa League qualification alive.

“I am happy to hear the words of the coach,” Pavoletti told Mediaset Premium after being complimented by Rossoblu coach Gian Piero Gasperini.

“I had little space at the beginning because I was denied by great players but at the end my time has arrived. Tonight was the perfect night, like a dream.

“We always work on the smallest details, then on the field things that you would have never guessed arrive.

“Why am I late to Serie A? I ask myself that too, but my path was long and has provided me with great satisfaction. I have no regrets.

“All I have is to show what I can do on the field. Now that I have more minutes to play I am able to show what I can do.”
