Juventus v AC MilanJuventus midfielder Andrea Pirlo said that the Bianconeri will be the last Italian side he will play for in his career, possibly leaving the possibility of a move abroad open.

The 35-year-old also admitted that he came close to joining Juve’s Champions League semi-final opponents Real Madrid in 2006 and stated that winning Europe’s biggest prize would be the ideal way to call time on his career in Italy.

“Winning the Champions League before finishing? It could be a perfect way to end my time in Italy,” said Pirlo hours after the Old Lady won their fourth consecutive Scudetto according to Il Messaggero.

“First we have to win it and then we’ll see.”

Pirlo also was asked about whether he had come close to joining the Spanish side in the past.

“In 2006, when [Fabio] Capello was the coach, I went close to joining Real Madrid,” said Pirlo.

“I was at AC Milan who were having problems after Calciopoli and I had won almost everything; I then renewed my contract and we went on to win the Champions League.

“[Carlo] Ancelotti was like a father to me, he put me among football’s greats by playing me in a different role.

“With him I lived through many unforgettable moments and we shared many victories.”
