Juventus will be in the top pot for next season’s Champions League group stage draw with the seven other sides also confirmed.
Joining the Bianconeri will be their opponents in this year’s final, Barcelona, as well as Chelsea, Bayern Munich, Benfica, Paris Saint-Germain, Zenit St Petersburg, and PSV Eindhoven.
According to UEFA’s regulations for the next edition of Europe’s most prestigious club competition, the domestic champions of the seven top-ranked associations – where Italy stands in fourth place – and the 2014/15 winner will go into the August 28 draw in Pot 1.
However, since two of these champions will face off in the final in Berlin next month, the champion of eighth top-ranked association – the Netherlands – will take the final spot.
This means that the 2004/05 semi-finalists PSV will face lower-ranked opposition in their first Champions League group stage appearance since the 2008/09 campaign.
