Inter defender Andrea Ranocchia has opened up about his sides draw against Chievo on Sunday, and admitted he is disappointed with the performance.

The Nerazzurri suffered a 0-0 draw against Chievo and could slip to ninth should Torino defeat Empoli on Wednesday.

Speaking to Inter Channel, the Inter captain said that the team was disappointed with the result.

“We’re disappointed because we could have taken a big step forward, but instead we took just a half step,” the defender said.

“Now there are difficult games ahead but we will show that we come up with something more in the future.

“We will try to the end to get into Europe. The big teams have the potential to hurt us but we can also hurt them.

“Against Chievo we were sat behind the ball and we had little room to make our mark, although we did come close.”

The 27 year old was keen to look to future games as Inter prepare to take on Lazio and Juventus in their next two rounds.

“Next we face Lazio and we are confident because we have a week to work hard and I think we will be ready,” Ranocchia said.

“We will prepare as we have done in recent matches because our attitude has always been the right one.

“We have to work in the right way because it will be a difficult game. Sixth and Europe are not as far away as a month ago.”

The player then gave a message to Inter fans encouraging them to support the team, particularly against Juventus.

“It’s a special game for all Inter fans and it’s never boring, even if they have already won the league title they will be wanting to gamble. Both teams will want to win, but we want to win more.”

Ranocchia has 38 appearances and has scored twice this season for Inter.
