Roma have turned down an offer to buy Real Madrid captain Iker Casillas, after having been approached by the Spanish giants.

The long-serving Spanish goalkeeper’s days at Real Madrid look to be coming to an end as the club looks for a new name to fill the gloves at the Santiago Bernabeu, with reports from Il Tempo suggesting that the Los Blancos keeper has been offered to the Giallorossi in recent days.

Roma are considered to be in the market for a new shot stopper, and have been increasingly linked to potential targets in the past few months.

However, reports would further suggest that they have turned down the veteran for now, after having adjudged Casillas’ salary to be too high for the club.

The 34-year-old would expect wages of €7 million per season, a colossal fee which would amount to be the highest wage in Serie A, and a fee which Roma would be unwilling to pay.

Unless Casillas were to reduce his demands, it is deemed unlikely that he will arrive to play in Rome come this summer.
