Sami Khedira looks close to becoming a Juventus player after the Bianconeri’s sporting director Giuseppe Marotta all but confirmed the deal.

The move for the German international, who will arriveĀ on a free transfer from Real Madrid, look set to be complete in the next few days with just the player’s signature needed.

“Let’s say that we are close to Khedira,” Marotta told Sky Sport Italia, “However nothing is done until everything is signed. We moved quickly and with determination.”

It looked like a move back home, to play for Schalke, was on the cards for Khedira but with the German side failing to qualify for Europe, the BianconeriĀ became favourites to sign the 28-year-old.

”We have always said that this is a winning team and that we have to keep improving the quality of the team so that the team can continue to grow.”

One player who may not be in Turin next season is Paul Pogba, with the France international being linked with some of Europe’s top clubs but Marotta isn’t overly worried about the situation.

“Pogba’s sale is not a necessity,” he said. “He is a player who has had a very positive transformation in his time here but as a club we are used to winning and we will only do that if we keep our best players.”
